The image is the remainder of my reflection | Sebastián Barrante

Artist’s book by Sebastián Barrante in its English version, which is born from a series of phrases, like an exquisite corpse, to arrive at the expression “the image is the remnder of my reflection” and the author’s subsequent attempt to take it to a concrete object.

In this attempt, the need to conjugate text and image in a symbiotic way appears. This is how he constructs this book with multiple readings: a flipped text that can only be translated with the help of the reflection of the mirror; countless images that appear in the movement of the book as it is manipulated; and the image of the reader reflected in the book itself.

The image is the remainder of my reflection, published by Naranja Publicaciones, was handmade by Chilean artist and Naranja editor Sebastián Barrante in Santiago, Chile during March 2017.

Three numbered copies of this work were made in Spanish and three numbered copies in English.
