11 noches | Radio Magallanes

Radio Magallanes is an ensemble of sound and visual poetry, formed by Carlos Soto Román, Pablo Fante, Juan Diego Soto and Gonzalo Henríquez.
11 noches addresses the military dictatorship in Chile through intervened audiovisual materials. In particular, they worked with records of the repression, and also made an intervention of the Sí (YES) campaign for the 1988 plebiscite, with a video art approach that dialogues in counterpoint with what was done for the NO campaign and the development of video art in Chile in the 1980s. Moreover, texts from the poetry book 11 (Premio Municipal de Poesía 2018) by Carlos Soto Román were added on top of these video images. To dialogue with the original material, the book was conceived with the proportions of a television set (4:3) and printed on an antique printing press with corner blunting. Finally, Radio Magallanes presents the work live, with musical instruments and samples, including texts from the poem Verde noche by Pablo Fante, as can be seen in these records at the PM Festival or at the Museo de la Memoria.
