Associated project
Archivo de Carta de Porto
Archive Carta Porto and Dendrites Editions (Archivo Carta Porto y Dendritas Editoriales) is an installation of Mail Art of Naranja Publicaciones that was born under the premise that a letter does not achieve its goal as long as it is answered. Under this assumption, is that the edition of “Carta de Porto” of Sebastian Arancibia and Sebastian Barrante is edited by Naranja Publicaciones as a base for an art-mail project.
Letter from Porto (Carta de Porto) is a writing exercise in the format of letter of universal addressee, that for the development of this project, was delivered to different people-among artists, writers and people related to the area- to invite them to answer in the way they liked it.
Once finished the answer it should be sent by mail to the sender (Naranja) with only one restriction: the answer must fit in the envelope.
After receiving a number of answers, the project turned into an editorial installation in which the file of the received answers was presented, a video as a record of the opening of the answers called “Reading Act”; and Dendrites Editions which are publications of Naranja that work as editorial actions for the received answers.
Archive Carta Porto and Dendrites Edition is proposed as an exercise in constant development. The installation was presented for the first time in the fair “Miss Read: The Berlin Art Book Fair 2018”, in Berlin, Germany during May2018. The edition “Carta Porto” and some “Dendritas Edition” of the file are part of different public and private collections: “Archive Artists Publications” in Munich collections: “Archivo “De Appel in Amsterdam, Centro Nacional de Artes Visuales (CEDOC) of Santiago, Chile; Musèe Legitime in Amsterdam and the private collection of the Uruguayan artist Clemente Padín.

This object sets various situations that are outdated in their material qualities, being expressed as mismatches between what is communicated and how it is communicated, thus generating – after greater reflection – the feeling that the author wants to remove the focus of attention from the text itself.
In the first edition were made 10 unique copies written by typewriter. The Portugal stamps are original.
In the next editions xerox was used for the reproduction of the original letter.
