Chapter III | Martín La Roche
Chapter III is an edition of selected images coming from the artist’s personal archive in a publication with the shape of a leporello.
The elements in this collection were found in different concrete encounters along three years while studying other archives or collections logics. Particularly they are the archive of the planet (Paris 1909-1929) with its autochromes and gardens, initiated by the french Banker Albert Kahn and the popular culture objects shown in Civilização do Nordeste (Salvador 1963) gathered by Italian/Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi. The ideas taken from these initiatives could be synthesized as to document what is going to disappear from the first one, and to rethink the material popular culture through the objects it produces from the latter.
For assimilating these practices the artist starts a collection/archive himself with the material possibilities of its present. Objects, photos, diagrams, drawings and scans from various sources are trying to understand the aims behind these two different collections.
All this information cohabits in a book, which assembles the material through associations without textual explanation.
