RESTA | Catalina de la Cruz

Photochemical book – unique manufactured copy -, made in Gum Bichromated. 19th century photographic emulsion that incorporates color pigments. The images that articulate it are chemical photographs made in sum of layers, which correspond to artificial and / or organic textures.

RESTA is projected from the patch, the waste, the leftovers of materials with which the temporary and precarious dwellings are built, from the Puerto Viejo site, located in the north of Chile. Constructions with remains, of shapes and sizes that do not allow fit. Here we have intervened the architecture of the book, based on a work of cuts and extraction of fragments, articulating openings in mismatch that cross their entire sequence. In a combinatorial layer saturated with shapes, textures and color, lets glimpse the subtraction of segments.
