Demanda Pública | VV.AA.
Demanda Pública is a project that the artist developed during the social uprising that started in Chile in 2019. Motivated by the desire to know the reasons that were driving people to raise their voices on the streets Maria P. Vila decided to set the project up in the middle of where the demonstrations were taking place, in order to collect citizens’ demands in situ.
The project comprises the protester’s handwritten demands. The product resulting from collecting these demands was handed over at Palacio de la Moneda, seat of the President of Chile, as a way to channel the public discussion into the space where power resides.
With the support of the Goethe-Institut of Santiago, we were able to make available the three volumes of Demanda Pública— which collected more than 1,800 written demands—in a digital, free version.
