Galaxia Oscura | Guillermo Núñez

Galaxia oscura is one of the works contained in La Quinta del Sordo, an artist’s book published in 2002. This folder includes three publications inside, whose titles are: Galaxia oscura, Palabras and XIV Galaxia oscura.

The first publication, Galaxia oscura, is a folder containing loose sheets with the same photograph repeated over and over again: the image of one of the barracks of the Buchenwald concentration camp, taken on April 12, 1945 by an American soldier, the day after the liberation of the camp. On each of these images, Núñez has added notes, poems and drawings.

The second publication, Palabras, is a visual rewriting of Eugenio Llona’s poem, written in exile and published in 1978 in Rome, Italy.

The third publication, XIV Galaxia Oscura, is a book with the appearance of a calendar in which Núñez interpellates the reader through questions, inviting him to reflect on the pain caused by human beings to other human beings.
