In this section, we invite a person related to the field of artists’ publications to answer seven questions of a questionnaire with images.
The main rule is that each question must be answered only with photographs or images, without captions or descriptions.
For version #12 we invited book artist, writer and librarian Josh Hockensmith to answer the questionnaire. Let’s see the results.

I’m a book artist, writer, and library worker living in Pittsboro, North Carolina in the US. I arrived at artists’ books via poetry & hand bookbinding, and have produced work under the name Blue Bluer Books since the early 2000s. During that time I’ve worked in the libraries at UNC-Chapel Hill in various capacities — first as a book repair technician, and more recently as the manager of the Art Library. My role there has exposed me to an incredible range of contemporary artists’ publications. I’m currently finishing a mid-career MA in Art History before transitioning to full-time studio work, writing, and teaching. My mentor, Stephen Addiss, was a student of John Cage and an art historian specializing in Japanese Zen art, so their influences are strong on me. So is the influence of my father — an avid woodworker who made the mallard decoy above — and my brother, an amateur cartoonist. Even as my work has moved away from traditional poetry writing and into more of a visual art mode, I still think of my books and prints as materialized poems.
